Dr. Natalie Hazzard, Psy.D., C.Psych.
Seeking a psychological assessment can be an important step toward better understanding yourself, particularly when you have spent years wondering why certain aspects of life seem more difficult than they should. My goal is to make the assessment process collaborative, respectful, and informative, and to provide you with a clearer understanding of your experiences, strengths, challenges, and needs.
Individual Adult Assessment: I provide comprehensive psychological assessments for adults presenting with a broad range of concerns. Individuals may seek assessment because of longstanding difficulties with attention, organization, executive functioning, social relationships, emotional regulation, anxiety, mood, trauma, or functioning at school or work. Others may have begun to wonder whether a diagnosis could help explain patterns they have experienced throughout their lives. I recognize that pursuing an assessment can bring a mixture of curiosity, uncertainty, and sometimes anxiety, and I aim to create a comfortable environment in which you feel heard and understood.
I have particular interests and experience in the assessment of ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, trauma- and stressor-related disorders, anxiety and mood disorders, and other complex psychological presentations. I also conduct assessments related to occupational functioning, disability, treatment planning, return to work, and workplace or academic accommodations. I have extensive experience working with Canadian Armed Forces members and Veterans, first responders, and individuals who have experienced psychological difficulties or injuries related to their work.
My approach to assessment is comprehensive, evidence-based, and person-centred. Rather than focusing solely on whether you meet criteria for a particular diagnosis, I consider your broader developmental, psychological, social, educational, and occupational history. Assessment may involve a detailed clinical interview, standardized psychological measures, review of relevant records, and, when appropriate, information from someone who knows you well. Bringing these different sources of information together helps me develop a more complete understanding of your experiences and distinguish between conditions that can sometimes look similar or overlap.
I also believe that an assessment should provide more than a diagnostic label. At the feedback session, we will review the findings together and discuss how they relate to your experiences. My aim is for you to leave the assessment with a clearer understanding of yourself, including both your strengths and areas of difficulty, as well as practical recommendations for treatment, everyday functioning, and workplace or academic accommodations when appropriate.
