Starting a journey in therapy is a brave step toward healing and self-discovery. In my opinion, therapy offers a secure, accepting environment for delving into the intricacies of the human condition. Therapy enables us to unravel the complexities of our past and present to create a more satisfying future. My strategy is built on the idea that everyone can improve, and my job is to support that process by offering evidence-based assistance that is customized to meet your specific needs.
I have had the honour of working with a variety of populations throughout my academic and professional career, including children, adolescents, and vulnerable older adults in a variety of community agencies. In my work at CFIR, I’m dedicated to helping adults, and couples who want to better control their emotions, create useful coping mechanisms, and obtain a deeper understanding of their own maladaptive thought and behaviour patterns. I want to help you overcome life’s obstacles and create long-lasting positive change by developing a cooperative therapeutic alliance.
I have great interest in treatments such as cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), emotion-focused (EFT) and solution-focused therapies (SFT). These modalities target different areas for growth from changing thought patterns, creating committed action to change, identifying values, and making use of already prevalent resources to tackle problems.
Therapy: What you can expect in the beginning stages of our work together is a collaborative process. This is an opportunity where you can get to know what it is like in the therapy room and be able to share what brings you here. I hope to get to know you better and define goals that you have for yourself more clearly. If this seems daunting, I would like to reassure you that regular check-ins and slowing down are recommended. In addition, I am happy to answer any questions or concerns you have to the best of my ability while honouring my own ethical limits.
I am a committed professional who is pursuing a Master of Counselling Psychology, MACP at City University. I am currently working through my first practicum at the Centre for Interpersonal Relationships. During this time, I will be seeking supervision from other highly qualified working professionals to aid my practice and learning process. My supervisor is Jasmin Baird, B.A, R.P.
I have been active in the mental health field for 4 years. Throughout my Bachelor’s, BA of Psychology at Brock University I have worked with a variety of populations. These roles vary at agencies such as Distress Centre Niagara, Pathstones Mental Health, and Alzheimer’s Society. This is when I learned the profound impacts of mental illness and how it affects the community. Further, I have taken time to enhance my knowledge by completing programs such as Safe Talk and Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASSIT). These workshops enabled my ability to navigate high-stack situations more effectively with de-escalation techniques and coping strategies.
