Gail Joly, M.A., R.P. (Qualifying)
My work is grounded in compassion, curiosity, and genuine human connection. I offer a warm, holistic, trauma-informed space where you can feel heard, respected, and safe being yourself.
My approach to therapy draws from Narrative Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Internal Family Systems (IFS). Rather than using a single modality, I believe therapy works best when it is flexible, collaborative, and tailored to what feels meaningful and supportive for you. You are at the centre of the healing process, and my role is to walk alongside you with support and guidance as you navigate your own path toward healing and growth.
My background includes suicide and crisis counselling with Donna Cona, as well as Public Safety consulting and the development of Community Safety Plans with rural and northern Indigenous communities. I also bring extensive experience working alongside First Nations, Métis, and Inuit communities, 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals, and people from diverse and historically marginalized communities.
My additional training includes ASIST, San’yas Indigenous Cultural Safety, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, suicide intervention, Four Seasons of Reconciliation, and training related to trafficking for sexual exploitation. These experiences inform a practice that respects each person’s identity, culture, lived experience, strengths, and worldview.
I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with a Master of Arts in Psychotherapy, Counselling and Spirituality, and I am currently pursuing a Ph.D. focused on healing, identity, and resilience. Dr. Lila Hakim, C. Psych., Psychologist, supervises me.
