Dr. Erica Tatham, C.Psych.
Life often presents challenges that can make it difficult to cope. During these tough times, deciding to seek therapy or assessment is one of the most important, though sometimes hardest, steps you can take. I commend you for considering your psychological well-being, and I would be honored to support you on your journey toward better mental, emotional, and relational health.
In individual therapy, I work primarily with adults and seniors dealing with distressing emotions related to depression, anxiety, and other life challenges. These might include loss, relationship difficulties, neurodevelopmental issues (such as ADHD or autism), childhood or situational trauma, brain injury/changes, identity struggles, or managing a personal or loved one’s illness. My goal is to help you find a personalized path to healing, reducing distress, and exploring the root causes of your difficulties.
In our first few sessions, we’ll take the time to hear your story at a pace that feels comfortable for you. Together, we’ll identify your therapeutic goals, and I’ll offer professional guidance to create a personalized plan for achieving them. Throughout this work together I will provide a supportive and non-judgmental space. As an integrative therapist, I draw on evidence-based approaches, including psychodynamic, emotion-focused, and cognitive-behavioral therapies, to best address your unique needs.
In psychological and neuropsychological assessments, I work with adults and seniors facing emotional distress, complex personality traits, or cognitive difficulties due to illness, head trauma, or other conditions. These assessments help individuals understand how their challenges affect daily life. The process typically includes an initial interview, questionnaires, performance tests (if needed), and a feedback session where I provide recommendations for improvement.
I bring extensive expertise to my work, having earned four degrees: a B.Sc. in Biology and Psychology, an M.Sc. in Neuroscience, an M.A. in Clinical Psychology, and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in Neuroscience—all from McMaster and York Universities. This training has deepened my understanding of emotion processing and the brain-behavior connection.
Over the course of my career, I’ve provided therapy and assessments services at top-tier settings, including Toronto Western Hospital, Sunnybrook Hospital, York University Psychology Clinic, Brookside Psychotherapy and Assessments, and Valentin & Blackstock Psychology Clinic. I’ve also contributed to the field through conference presentations, more than 12 peer-reviewed publications, and by teaching at York University.
