Hello and welcome! 

Seeking help is not easy. But you are here., and that tells me that you are motivated to live your best life. I want to help you make that happen. In my work I have helped individuals and couples understand themselves better, improve themselves, and improve their lives.  

I have great interests and experience in assessment and treatment that is considerate of cultural, social, and individual differences. My approach involves understanding you as an individual who is impacted by the various cultural identities and experiences that we all carry with us (e.g., ethnicity, race, immigration/generational status, spirituality/religion.). 

In my work with individuals, I have experience assessing, diagnosing, and treating concerns related to depression, anxiety, trauma, and interpersonal problems in adults. In my work with couples, I have experience assessing and treating difficulties with communication, intimacy, and conflict resolution. Most of my experience is in doing brief and short-term therapy that has a predetermined end as this often facilitates faster change and improvement. However, it is important to understand that everyone changes at a different pace and the length of time in treatment varies depending on the individual and the concern.

In our first meeting together, I want to start getting to know you, give you a chance to start getting to know me, understand your goals, and discuss your motivation/readiness for change. In the following sessions, I will gather information about your life history to better understand how your experiences in life have impacted your current circumstances and concerns. As part of the assessment process, I use evidence-based assessment tools to better evaluate your concerns. Once the assessment is complete, I will share with you my professional opinion about what likely contributed to the development and persistence of your concerns and provide you with a plan for how to address them. I like to integrate techniques from various treatment strategies to tailor the treatment to your specific needs and goals. I am trained in cognitive behavioural therapy, emotion-focused therapy, process-experiential therapy, psychodynamic therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and mindfulness. Once we accomplish your goals, we will make a plan for maintain your progress either independently and/or with more spaced-out maintenance sessions. 

I am currently a registered psychologist at the Centre for Interpersonal Relationships. In the past, I have provided clinical services at the Ottawa Centre for Resilience, the Centre for Psychological Services and Research at the University of Ottawa, the Psychological Services and Research Centre at the University of Windsor, the Student Counseling Centre at the University of Windsor, and several private practice settings.
