Dr. Kadir Ibrahim, C.Psych. (Supervised Practice)

At different points in our lives, we may encounter experiences that can feel difficult to cope with. Whether you are feeling emotionally overwhelmed, navigating relationship difficulties, or noticing patterns that no longer serve you, choosing to seek therapy is a meaningful step that often requires courage.

I aim to offer a warm, supportive, and collaborative space where you can slow things down, make sense of your experiences, and work toward meaningful change in a way that feels attuned to your needs.

I work with adults who are experiencing a wide range of emotional, relational, and life challenges. I support individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, and difficulties in relationships, coping with grief and loss, traumatic life experiences, and the emotional demands of parenting. I also help clients develop a stronger sense of self and self-esteem, and navigate complex emotional experiences such as anger, fear, shame, or guilt. Together, we address concerns related to emotion regulation, chronic stress, burnout, coping with health-related challenges, and significant life transitions. I am dedicated to offering care that is inclusive, respectful, and responsive to individuals from diverse backgrounds and life contexts.

My approach to psychotherapy is integrative and relational, grounded in empathy, authenticity, and genuine curiosity. I view the therapeutic relationship as central to our work and aim to offer a space that feels safe, collaborative, and non-judgmental. I draw on several evidence-based models, including psychodynamic, attachment-based, emotion-focused, interpersonal, cognitive-behavioural, and mindfulness-based approaches. This allows us to address present-day concerns while attending to the deeper patterns that shape your experience.

In our first session, we will explore what has brought you to therapy and work together to understand the difficulties you’ve been experiencing and identify goals that feel meaningful to you. I also conduct a comprehensive, scientific-based assessment, combining evidence-based measures with an in-depth exploration of your personal history and life context. This helps us develop a shared understanding of your difficulties, including the emotional, relational, and behavioural patterns that may be contributing to them. This collaborative process provides a foundation for our work together, allowing treatment to be tailored to your needs and goals.

While reducing distress and symptoms is an important part of therapy, our work together also extends beyond symptom relief to address the underlying patterns that contribute to them. Over time, therapy can support growth in how you relate to yourself, your emotions, and your relationships. This may involve developing a more stable sense of self, greater emotional flexibility, and more satisfying ways of connecting with others, as well as feeling better able to respond to life’s challenges with greater clarity, intention, and confidence. These shifts tend to develop gradually through reflection, exploration, and understanding within a safe and collaborative therapeutic relationship, supporting change that feels integrated, meaningful, and lasting.

I am a Clinical Psychologist (Supervised Practice) registered with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario. I completed my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at D’Youville University and previously earned Master’s degrees in Clinical Psychology from Medaille University and in Counselling Psychology from Nova Southeastern University. I also hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from York University. I am currently completing my postdoctoral supervised practice at the Centre for Interpersonal Relationships (CFIR) under the supervision of Dr. Dino Zuccarini, C.Psych., and Dr. Aleks Milosevic, C.Psych.

My clinical training has taken place across community mental health and private practice settings, including Pathstone Mental Health, Central Ontario Psychology, and The Therapy Centre, where I provided psychotherapy and assessment services to adults with a diverse array of concerns. I completed my pre-doctoral residency at the Centre for Interpersonal Relationships (CFIR), working from an integrative, relational framework with adults experiencing a range of emotional and relational difficulties.

As part of my doctoral training, I conducted research examining attachment processes and their role in emotional well-being, interpersonal functioning, and psychological distress, with particular attention to how individuals experience and make sense of support from others. This research informs my clinical work by deepening my understanding of how relational patterns develop, how they shape emotional and interpersonal experience, and how these patterns can be explored and become more flexible over time, including shifts in how one experiences and anticipates relationships with others.

If you feel we might be a good fit, I invite you to reach out to schedule an initial consultation, where we can discuss how therapy might support the changes you are seeking. I would welcome the opportunity to connect and begin getting to know your story.
