Yvanna Zakrzewski, M.Psy., R.P.

In life, we can sometimes become overwhelmed by the thoughts, feelings, and behaviours that we experience. Feeling supported, understood, and safe is crucial when addressing these issues. Utilizing my clinical expertise, experience, and cutting-edge interventions, we can explore a path that leads to greater understanding, resilience, and lasting change in therapy.

In my therapy practice, I support both individuals and couples through emotional, relational, and psychological challenges. For couples, I have a particular interest in helping partners work through infidelity, rebuilding trust, address emotional disconnection, improve intimacy, resolve conflicts, and manage major life transitions. For individuals, I focus on issues such as anxiety, depression, grief, divorce, and questions of identity and meaning. Drawing on my background in corporate settings, I also understand the unique pressures and complexities that can come from high-performance or corporate environments, including burnout, work-life imbalance, career dissatisfaction, and navigating career transitions.

My comprehensive approach integrates psychodynamic, emotion-focused (EFT), cognitive-behavioural (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment (ACT), Dialectical Behavioural (DBT), and existential frameworks tailored to your individual needs. In your first session, I invite you to share any difficulties you’d like to explore; together, we’ll identify your core challenges and set therapeutic goals. My aim is to understand the roots of your concerns and help you clarify the values and personal qualities you wish to develop. To support this process, I use a comprehensive intake assessment—a cutting-edge, evidence-based tool—to aid in treatment planning. Throughout, I strive to foster a genuine connection based on empathy, sincerity, and respect, so you feel truly understood and cared for.

With over a decade of experience living and working across many diverse cultural settings, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for how culture, context, and lived experience shape psychological development and emotional well-being. These experiences have sensitized me to the ways in which identity, values, and systemic influences shape how people make sense of their experiences. In therapy, this translates into a practice grounded in cultural humility, narrative sensitivity, and a commitment to co-creating a therapeutic space where your worldviews are honoured and explored with depth and care. This supports clients from diverse cultural backgrounds in feeling valued and respected.

I have completed my Master of Psychology in clinical and counselling psychology at Adler Graduate Professional School and hold a Bachelor of Commerce and Finance from the University of Toronto. In addition to psychology, my professional background spans over 17 years in the Toronto and global finance community, including roles in stakeholder management, conflict resolution, executive coaching, and support for C-Suite executives. I am currently a Registered Psychotherapist (#18446) at the Centre for Interpersonal Relationships, under the supervision of Joshua Peters, Psy.D., R.P. I am a member of the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) and of the Society for Exploration of Psychotherapy Integration (SEPI).
