Lisa Pelletier, M.Psy.
It takes courage to confront life’s emotional challenges—whether you’re navigating uncomfortable thoughts, challenging moments in your relationships, emotions, or behaviours – you don’t have to navigate any of your challenges alone. If you’re here, you’ve already taken a powerful first step toward healing. I am here to provide you with safe, inclusive, and compassionate care to help you achieve your goals, and to work collaboratively with you and to support you through lasting change.
In my practice, I offer individual therapy for adults dealing with anxiety, difficulties with self-esteem and confidence, stress and burnout, depression, and challenges with mood and relationships. Together, we will explore the patterns that keep you stuck, the emotions that overwhelm you, and the uncomfortable thoughts that you may experience — so you can begin to feel more secure, resilient, and authentic in your life.
In individual therapy, my approach is relational, inclusive, and client-centered. I work sensitively with each person’s emotional experiences, relational patterns, and cultural context. A goal is to have you feel seen, heard, and supported at every step. During our first session, we will take the time to get to know each other, discuss your background, what brought you to seek therapy, and your specific goals. To gain a deeper understanding of your struggles, I will have you complete evidence-based questionnaires. From there, we will create a tailored treatment plan that meets your unique needs and expectations, revisiting and adjusting your goals as necessary throughout our work together.
In couples therapy, my work focuses on strengthening the attachment bonds between partners. Strengthening emotional communication and emotional intimacy is the cornerstone of secure attachment. I also support partners to work through difficult relational moments involving betrayals, infidelities, difficulties in managing the domestic sphere, including finances, parenting, and domestic labor. Couples are also supported to learn how to negotiate, problem-solve, and find their own solutions to their everyday problems, such as finances, setting boundaries, or dealing with in-laws. Partners can also at times find themselves struggling to negotiate separateness and togetherness. I’ll help you find ways to ensure sufficient autonomy while maintaining partner intimacy.
I have been trained in a number of evidence-based therapy approaches that we can draw upon to address your treatment goals. Because no one treatment fits all, I integrate a number of evidence-based and trauma-informed therapies based on your specific goals and needs, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Inference-Based CBT (I-CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness-Based Interventions, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused, Experiential/Emotion-focused, Psychodynamic and Attachment-based therapy. I may also incorporate metaphors, imagery, and at times if it is welcomed, gentle humor, to help make difficult emotions easier to navigate.
I am currently completing a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the Adler Graduate Professional School in Toronto, where I also earned a Master of Psychology in Clinical and Counselling Psychology. Throughout my training I have worked at a number of private practices and interdisciplinary settings and have supported many clients with complex mental health challenges. At the Centre for Interpersonal Relationships (CFIR), I am completing my residency under the supervision of Dr. Dino Zuccarini, C.Psych., and Dr. Karine Côté, C.Psych.
Aside from my clinical training and work, I am a member of the Ontario Psychological Association. As a doctoral student, I also remain actively involved in clinical training and scholarly work, and I remain dedicated to lifelong learning that involves integrating the latest clinical knowledge into every aspect of my work. My clinical and academic work is informed by a deep commitment to equity, cultural humility, and client-centered care.
