Taking the first step toward therapy can be difficult, and finding the right person to assist you is essential. It takes courage to reach out, especially to someone you don’t know yet. However, the fact that you are here reading this page means that you have already taken the first step. By continuing to read my profile, you can learn more about the work we could do together and determine if I am the right person to work with you.
I am currently completing my master’s degree in education, psychology of counseling, at the University of Ottawa. At the Center for Interpersonal Relationships, I am completing my internship under the supervision of Dr. Karine Côté, C. Psych.
My approach is tailored to each person’s goals and needs. Each person experiences their issues in their unique way, with their own perception of the world and their own thoughts and feelings. Since each person is unique, it is important for me to draw on a variety of approaches to use what will work best for you, including relational, person-centered and emotion-focused, cognitive-behavioral, and mentalization-based therapies. These approaches have also been proven effective for a variety of issues. More specifically, I work with individuals experiencing issues of anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or who are troubled by difficult or traumatic life events.
Our first meeting will allow us to establish a collaborative process and clarify your expectations regarding therapy, your goals, and the events that led you to make an appointment. The first meeting will also allow us to lay the foundations for a solid therapeutic relationship, characterized by trust and authenticity, which are important elements for the effectiveness of the therapeutic process.
For the past five years, I have worked and volunteered at a helpline, where I learned the importance and impact of attentive listening. I have also worked for a non-profit organization with teenagers experiencing a variety of issues, both in the area of mental health and in their interpersonal relationships, such as with their families and friends. In addition, I completed an internship in social work in a program designed to help individuals who have experienced a first episode of psychosis.
